<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize complicated television on-screen display at a low cost through the use of a high speed picture element arithmetic circuit and a small scale display scan memory by combining the display scan memory, a display circuit, a high speed picture element arithmetic circuit and a computer element by means of software. SOLUTION: The unit is made up of picture element memories 206, 207 by two horizontal scanning lines at minimum, a picture element arithmetic synthesis circuit 205 having a processing function for the picture element forming, a color pallet 209, an OSD display circuit 208, a sequencer circuit 201 with a function of a computer element to execute arithmetic operations or its equivalent, storage devices 202, 203 and software controlling them. In this unit, while either of the picture element memories 206, 207 by two horizontal scanning lines executes OSD display, new data are calculated and generated in the other memory and the processing above is alternately repeated for each reception of a horizontal synchronizing signal. Then the processing is extended up to a vertical period.</p> |
