PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speaker with excellent sound quality having a flat frequency characteristic by suppressing occurrence of split resonance in the thin and long (rectangular) speaker applied to a video and audio equipment such as a television receiver. SOLUTION: Each voice coil 18 arranged in each of plural magnetic circuits 16 each having a magnetic gap 22 is vibrated by an electromagnetic induction force induced in each magnetic circuit 16. The voice coils and the magnetic circuits are fixed to a thin and long diaphragm 13 via each support 20 so as to vibrate the entire diaphragm 13 uniformly at the same phase in the major axis direction in this speaker. Thus, deviation in the vibration phase at positions of the diaphragm 13 is prevented, split resonance is suppressed so as to enhance the efficiency of energy transformation of electromagnetic induction force→mechanical vibration→air compression wave vibration, and the sound reproduction is attained, in which a flat frequency characteristic, high sound quality and excellent articulation are realized.
