PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tires, which improves a low fuel consumption and mechanical strength in good balance and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition for tires in each member (especially tread) of tires. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tires includes a rubber component comprising natural rubber and butadiene rubber, a compound represented by formula (1) [wherein p is an integer of 2-8] and/or formula (2) [wherein q is an integer of 2-8; M<SP POS="POST">r+</SP>is a metal ion; r is its valence] and carbon black.
