<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a data amount which is to be stored for determining that dew condensation occurs in a transparent member. <P>SOLUTION: An image reader includes: a transparent member; a light source for irradiating an original with light via the transparent member; an image reading section equipped with a plurality of pixel detection sections for reading at least a part of the image of the original as a plurality of pixels; and a dew condensation determining member arranged in a part of the transparent member. A plurality of pixel values obtained by reading the image by the plurality of pixel detection sections without radiating light are set to be black reference data. An average value of the plurality of pixel values of the black reference data is calculated as a black reference pixel value and is stored in a storage section. The plurality of pixel values obtained by reading the image of the dew condensation determining member by the plurality of pixel detection sections are set to be dew condensation determination data. A difference between the respective pixel values of the dew condensation determination data and the black reference pixel value is calculated as a dew condensation determination correction value. It is determined whether the dew condensation occurs in the transparent member or not on the basis of a comparison result of the plurality of dew condensation determination correction values and a previously determined dew condensation determination threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
