The object of the invention is a procedure of manufacturing a winter sports arena using cooling technique and the arena manufactured by means of the method. In the procedure a layer of ice of suitable thickness is frozen in connection and on the cooling liquid piping (2a, 2b) in order to form an essentially continuous ice field (2) and within the area of the ice field (2) an essentially closed skating area (4) open towards the sky and equipped with walls (3) is formed. On the ice field (2) outside of the skating area (4) and the walls (3) a support layer (5) meant for skiing and equipped with at least one skiing track (5a) is formed.
