The present invention relates to an anode active material having an improved capacity and to a lithium secondary battery comprising the same, the anode active material comprising lithium metal oxide; and metal powder or metal oxide for electrochemically forming lithium alloy by reacting with lithium ions in electrolyte in a range between 1 and 30 wt% with respect to the total weight of an anode mixture.
