摘要 |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MR composite head having an upper magnetic pole having thickness enough to generate a magnetic field required when a signal is recorded on a medium and having its width of nearly <=2μm with respect to the MR composite head having a side wall aligned in the same surface for minimizing a side fringe and improving off-track performance. SOLUTION: A lower magnetic pole-cum-upper shield pedestal part 1 having the width 1w slightly wider than the width 5w of the upper magnetic pole 5 and having a height 1h higher than recording gap thickness 3t is formed before a recording gap 3 is formed. Thus, the reduction amount of the thickness of the upper magnetic pole 5 when the notched part 8 of the lower magnetic pole-cum-upper shield pedestal part 1 having the side wall aligned in the same surface 10 as the upper magnetic pole 5 and in the same width as the upper magnetic pole 5 is formed by ion milling is reduced by using that the thickness of a recording gap corner part 4 is thinned and making the upper magnetic pole 5 a mask. |
