<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bolus capable of suppressing damage to tissue at a position shallower than a part to be irradiated and performing treatment, and to provide a particle beam irradiation apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The bolus 1 is installed in the particle beam irradiation apparatus 10 and includes a modulation part 1c for modulating the energy distribution of a particle beam B within an irradiation field, corresponding to the part 100TC to be irradiated. A water equivalent thickness distribution in the irradiation direction of the particle beam B of the modulation part 1c within the irradiation field is set so as to compensate the shape of a surface (the part from E1 to E2 on an LP side) on a shallow part (Proximal) side in the view from the irradiation direction of the particle beam B of the part 100TC to be irradiated or a depth distribution from a body surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
