<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system for enabling a resident to perceive the business of a visitor to some extent before responding, and to pretend to be out without responding when it is a troublesome visitor. <P>SOLUTION: A slave unit 2 includes a second operation portion 21 to be operated by a visitor, a second image display device 24 for displaying a predetermined image, an imaging device 26, and a visitor detection portion 29 for detecting the presence of the visitor. When the presence of the visitor is detected by the visitor detection portion 29, a visit business display image including at least two visit business affairs and a message for selecting one visit business affair for the visitor is displayed on the screen of the second image display device 24.
