PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exclude a rod and cap likely to be in a poor engagement condition prior to assembly to a crank pin.SOLUTION: A fracture split connecting rod 20 is moved by a robot to an inspection mechanism 40, a rod 21 is fixed by a locator pin 53a and each clamp device 53b, and each fixing bolt 23 is loosened by each socket 85 of a nut runner 80. A cap 22 is detached from the rod 21 by a detaching pawl 69b of a cap detaching mechanism 69, and the cap 22 is pressed in a short side direction of the fixing bolt 23 by a pressing pawl 71c of a cap pressing mechanism 71. While the cap 22 is pressed by the cap pressing mechanism 71 and each fixing bolt 23 is tightened by the nut runner 80, a displacement amount between the rod 21 and the cap 22 is measured by a displacement measuring mechanism, the displacement amount and a reference value are compared by a controller, and when the displacement amount is equal to or larger than the reference value, the articles are determined defective units likely to be in a poor engagement condition. |
