The adhesive dispenser moves towards the axis (R) of the turntable (2) holding the first substrate (5), to reach the central zone. A set dose of adhesive is delivered from the nozzle, onto the substrate. The dispenser retracts and as the turntable rotates, the second substrate is lowered by a holder down onto the first, leaving a small intervening gap. The adhesive is distributed over the top of the first substrate. The second substrate is then lowered further and released, the holder retracting to its initial position. Excess adhesive is then spun off smartly. The disc assembly passes through an ultraviolet dryer. An Independent claim is included for the equipment carrying out the process. This includes the turntable, which has a largely plane upper surface and an annular vacuum groove with depressed region near the inner edge of the disc.
