PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical demultiplexer with a reduced number of filters necessary to demultiplex an n-wavelength multiplexed light into n lights of different wavelengths. (n is an integer of 4 or more.)
SOLUTION: An n-wavelength multiplexed light is demultiplexed into (n/2) 2-wavelength multiplexed lights by m steps of band-pass filters whose transmission band includes i wavelengths on a shorter-wavelength side and i wavelengths on a longer-wavelength side in reference to a median in respective wavelengths, then each of the 2-wavelength multiplexed lights is demultiplexed into a light of the respective wavelength by an edge-pass filter whose transmission band includes wavelengths either on a shorter-wavelength side or on a longer-wavelength side in reference to the median in the respective wavelengths. (i is an integer from 1 to m, and m is ((n/2)-1) where digits after a decimal point are rounded up when n is an odd number.)
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
|
