<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition that controls edge separation, enhances durability of a tire, and also improves heat generation, and a pneumatic tire using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition is obtained by blending 1-5 pts.mass of a master batch comprising para-based aramid fibers and stearic acid and cobalt acetylacetonate in an amount of 0.03-0.5 pt.mass in terms of cobalt with 100 pts.mass of at least one vulcanizable diene-based rubber component selected from natural rubber and synthetic isoprene rubber. The rubber composition is used as a rubber composition for a tire belt edge tape comprising the rubber composition.
