<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cotton fabric treatment method for imparting a water diffusion promoting ability to a cotton fabric used in direct contact with skin, which method enhances water evaporation properties to reduce an unpleasant feeling such as a sticky feeling due to sweat and a cold feeling after sweating, and to provide a water diffusion promoter for imparting the water diffusion promoting ability to a cotton fabric used in direct contact with skin. <P>SOLUTION: [1] The cotton fabric treatment method imparts the water diffusion promoting ability to a cotton fabric used in direct contact with skin by attaching a glyceryl ether compound (A) to the cotton fabric in an amount of 0.1-50 mass% based on the mass of the cotton fabric. [2] The water diffusion promoter for imparting the water diffusion promoting ability to a cotton fabric used in direct contact with skin contains the glyceryl ether compound (A).
