PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determination a state preceding a failure. SOLUTION: While detecting the failure caused to an objective device of a failure diagnosis, an operation state parameter of a vehicle related to the objective device is obtained and it is determined whether or not the behavior of the obtained operation state parameter has a tendency to lead to the failure of the objective device. When the failure is detected (time t6), predetermined failure-time control corresponding to the detected failure is carried out.
