An oil cooled rotary engine comprising a centrally mounted timing gear arrangement. An output shaft 20 is rotationally mounted between side plates 23a & 23b, which along with a chamber wall 281 define a cavity through which the output shaft runs, the output shaft has an eccentric portion 21 positioned in the cavity and comprises a slot 29 in the eccentric portion. A stationary shaft 26 is positioned concentrically within the output shaft and extends from an end of the output shaft outside of the chamber to the slot, the stationary shaft is stationary with respect to the side plates. A stationary gear 28 is mounted on the stationary shaft 27 in the slot in the eccentric portion, and a rotor 31 is rotationally mounted on the eccentric portion of the output shaft, the rotor comprising an internal gear 32 configured to mesh with the stationary gear. Rotor oil seals 34a & 34b seal between the output shaft and the rotor. Also disclosed is a rotary engine comprising a coaxially positioned expander unit. |
