<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine in which production of soot can be suppressed, which is caused by luminous flame produced by peeling of deposited fuel. <P>SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine carrying out a fuel injection in first timing when a piston is near the upper dead point so that main fuel injection directly injecting fuel from the side to the inside of the cylinder is directed to a cavity 1204 in a case that the temperature of the piston is below a predetermined temperature, and carrying out the fuel injection in second timing earlier than the first timing in a piston position lower than the piston position in the first timing so that the main fuel injection is directed to the crown face of the piston which is outside the cavity 1204 and opposite to a fuel injection valve in a case that the temperature of the piston is equal to or above the predetermined temperature, the sidewall surface opposed to the fuel injection valve in the bottom surface of the cavity 1204 and the sidewall surface of the cavity 1204 has higher oil repellency than that of the crown surface of the outside of the cavity 1204. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
