<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which a desired variable pattern can be selected as preliminarily intended. <P>SOLUTION: An offset value and a counter value are set in accordance with a type of symbols in winning, with the counter value subtracted in accordance with a variation frequency after the end of a jackpot game. In this event, the counter value is set at a value other than 0 if a specific variation state is generated, while the counter value is set at 0 if no specific variation state is generated. Accordingly, when the counter value is initially set at 30, the counter value is other than 0 till thirtieth variation, thereby allowing a specific variation state to be generated during the variations.
