PURPOSE: A toothpaste containing chitosan is provided, which prevents bacteria and absorbs and controls bad breath. A chitosan also prevents decomposition by bacteria, so the toothpaste containing chitosan without preservatives minimize the side effects by excessive disinfectant, and has no odor of chemicals after brushing ones teeth. CONSTITUTION: A toothpaste is prepared by the usual toothpaste preparing method after adding 0.5-10wt. % of chitosan to common toothpaste ingredients like as dicalcium phosphate(a polishing agent), glycerin, sorbitol(a moistening agent), lauryl soda sulfate(a foaming agent), saccharine(a sweetening agent), peppermint or spearmint(aromatic), and sodium carboxy methyl cellulose(a binder).
