A tracking assistance device including a target-to-be-tracked setting unit that causes captured images stored in a recorder to be displayed and, in response to an input operation performed by a monitoring person, sets a designated moving object as a target to be tracked; a candidate selection unit that selects a candidate target 47; a candidate image presenting unit that extracts, as a candidate image 51a-d, a captured image in which the candidate target 47 is included, and causes the monitor to display the candidate image such that the monitoring person can select an appropriate candidate image; and a tracing information correction unit that changes the target to be tracked to the selected candidate and corrects the tracing information accordingly. The device may include a confirmation unit that presents an image of the target being tracked for confirmation by the user. The device allows for surveillance of a person being tracked across a multi-camera CCTV system and, when errors may occur in the transition between cameras, prompts the user to identify the target from a list of candidate targets. A claim is also included for a system comprising a surveillance camera, a display device and the tracking assistance device. |
