PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue a printing operation without removing a factor of a trouble, if it occurrs during output execution by a method wherein an apparatus is coupled with the other image forming apparatus and remaining image data stored therein is transmitted thereto, then the outputting for printing is carried out. SOLUTION: There duplicators are connected on a network. It is judged whether or not a factor causing one duplicator to stop printing occurs. When the duplicator is stopped, it is judged whether or not an automatic coupling mode is set and it is retrieved whether or not there is a duplicator in an idling state. When the coupled duplicator is in an idling state, the printing job is transmitted to the coupled duplicator through the network, then the printing operation is continued, and the fact is displayed on each of the duplicators. The number of sheets already printed out in the coupling mode is displayed on the coupled duplicator. A screen indicating the number of sheets outputted from the self duplicator, the number of sheets outputted from the coupled duplicator and the fact that the printing operation is completed is displayed o the self duplicator, then the operation is completed.
