A method for processing a digital broadcast signal is disclosed. The method includes demultiplexing a received broadcast signal into a video stream, audio stream and a supplementary information stream, which includes a Program map table and an Event information table. The method further includes determining whether caption data in the video stream is analog caption data or digital caption data by using the closed caption information, outputting a control signal according to the closed caption information and decoding the caption data in the video stream according to the control signal.
