A compound of a formula: wherein M is ruthenium or osmium; X and X1 are independently anionic ligands; L is neutral ligand; R1 is hydrogen, C1-20 alkyl, or C5-10 aryl;is optionally substituted o-phenylene, wherein 2 or more substituents of the o-phenylene may form an optionally substituted fused C4-8 carbocyclic ring or an optionally substituted fused aromatic C5-14 ring; and
R6, R7, and R8 are independently H, C1-6 alkyl, optionally substituted C4-10 heterocyclyl, or optionally substituted C5-14 aryl; wherein R7 and R8 may be linked together to form a substituted or unsubstituted C4-8 cyclic system.
