<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron source of high precision and an image-forming device, capable of realizing both improvement of the electron emission efficiency and convergence of the electron orbit, at the same time. SOLUTION: The electron source is constituted with a plural number of the electron emission elements 13 being laid in parallel in the columnar direction, the neighbors in the row direction being laid shifted in its location by a half pitch with the mutual adjacent ones and each of the electron emission elements be arranged and shifted by a half pitch to the row direction by every other column, that is, it is the so-called a delta arrangement system. This contributes both to the improvement of the electron emission efficiency and converging the electron orbit and also realizes that the electron source can maintain a high precision and high efficiency of the electron emission characteristics over a long time. The image forming device combining the electron source of this delta arrangement system with the image forming mechanism can furnish stable and satisfactory images over a long time.</p> |
