The present invention relates to a tappet unit for a valve train that is coupled with an engine block, is arranged between a camshaft and a push rod, and converts the rotary motion of the camshaft into a linear motion for transfer to the push rod. The present invention includes a tappet housing that is fastened to one side of the engine block; a tappet that is accommodated in the tappet housing and is subjected to a linear motion by the rotary motion of the camshaft; and a tappet guide unit that is formed inside the tappet housing to accommodate the tappet, guides the linear motion, and is formed to be inclined from the center line of the tappet housing so that the linear motion direction of the push rod is identical to the linear motion direction of the tappet. According to the present invention, an increase in wear and noise in the tappet unit attributable to the application of an eccentric load to the tappet can be prevented.
