A display device is disclosed. The display device comprises: a receiving unit which receives a broadcast signal; a display unit which displays content included in the received broadcast signal on an overall screen; a control signal receiving unit which receives a control signal from a remote control device; and a control unit which divides the overall screen into a plurality of split screens and adds a new screen, when it is determined that a screen split signal is inputted from the remote control device. The control unit sets the new screen among the split screens as a controllable target screen to be controlled according to the control signal, and displays the target screen to be controlled such that the target screen is discriminated from the rest split screens.
