PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cargo handling vehicle so constituted as to prevent a fork in lowering down operation from coming into contact with a rack board. SOLUTION: This cargo handling vehicle related to this invention, having a pallet 21, a lift device 1, a vehicle main unit 24, and a running device 3, is provided with a lift height detection means 2 detecting a height position H2 of the pallet 21, a moving distance measurement means 4 measuring an advance distance S1 of the vehicle main unit 24 starting advance action after lift operation of the pallet 21 and measuring a backward moving distance S2 of the vehicle main unit 24 starting backward moving action after ending of the advance action, and an action control means 9 inhibiting lowering down action of the pallet 21 till the backward moving distance S2 of the vehicle main unit 24 obtains the advance distance S1 thereof or more when the vehicle main unit 24 starts the backward moving action in a condition that the height position H2 of the pallet 21 making lift operation exceeds a preset reference position H1.
