The present invention relates to a display device which can be mounted on a head portion and a control method thereof. The display device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a main body which is formed to be mountable on a head portion; a display unit which is coupled with the main body and arranged at positions corresponding to both eyes and overlaps and displays visual information on an inputted external image; and a control unit which generates a control command for adjusting a transparency of the display unit, wherein the display unit can adjust the transparency according to the control command to adjust sharpness of the inputted external image.
