FIELD: heating.SUBSTANCE: invention refers to operation method for direct-flow/counter/flow regeneration furnace for limestone calcination, including at least two wells, each well featuring pre-heating zone, calcination zone and cooling zone, and bypass channel connecting both wells. Method involves use of both wells in turns as calcination well and exhaust well, combustion air and fuel supply to calcination well to form flame of required length, and transfer of hot gas produced in calcination furnace to exhaust well via bypass channel; at least one hot gas parameter characteristic for a given flame length is determined by direct or indirect measurement in the bypass channel area, preferred parameter being the difference of mean hot gas temperature in the bypass channel and mean minimum hot gas temperature in the bypass channel, or NOcontent and/or CO content in exhaust gas in the bypass channel, and fuel to combustion air ratio is controlled depending on the parameter to form flame of required length.
