LIQUID CRYSTAL OPTICAL ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display of good contrast even in a reflection mode and a transmission mode with a liquid crystal display element using chiral nematic liquid crystals. SOLUTION: A filter panel 21, polarizing plate 30,λ/4 plate 40, light emitting layer 50 and reflection layer 60 are laminated on the rear surface side of a liquid crystal panel 1. The filter panel 21 is formed by grasping the chiral nematic liquid crystals having a spiral structure of the direction reverse from the torsional direction of the spiral structure of the chiral nematic liquid crystals of the liquid crystal panel 1.
