The object of the invention is to provide a lubricant oil composition, particularly a lubricant oil composition capable of maximizing the friction reducing effect. The lubricant oil composition of the invention contains a base oil (A) wherein the sulfur content is not less than 0.03 mass%, and the mass ratio [%C A (mass%)/sulfur content (mass%)] between the aromatic content (%C A ) and the sulfur content is not more than 30, and a metal salicylate-based detergent (B) in not more than 3 mass% as an alkali metal or alkali earth metal amount based on the total amount of the composition.
