Described is an autoinjector (1) comprising a case (2.1, 2.2), a drive carriage (22) disposed in the case (2.1, 2.2), and a plunger (11) coupled to the drive carriage (22). The plunger (11) is adapted to releasably engage a needle retraction mechanism in a syringe (3).
