A device for detecting an image pattern according to the present invention comprises: a noise removal block to remove image noise mixed in an input image; an MCT conversion block to convert the input image, from which the image noise is removed, into the current MCT coefficient; a candidate pattern extraction block to extract a candidate pattern by performing SHD calculation for the current pattern window of the converted current MCT coefficient and a reference pattern window of a preregistered template image to calculate an SHD value between the two pattern windows and comparing the calculated SHD value with a preset threshold until all pixels for the current scale of the input image are processed; and a pattern detection block to scale down the input image at a preset ratio when all the pixels of the current scale are processed and detect the candidate pattern with the minimum SHD value among the stored candidate patterns as a representative pattern when processing for all the scales of the input image is completed.
