The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method and device for treating surface-treatment dust capable of efficiently separating iron powder and zinc powder that is a main material of a zinc primer from a large amount of surface-treatment dust in a shipbuilding yard and the like to recycle. In other words, the present invention is composed of a weight separator including a stirring impeller driven by a motor inside a separation tank to wet-treat resin impurities belonging to the zinc primer contained in the surface-treatment dust, a drain pipe discharging the iron powder and zinc power on the lower part of the separation tank, and an impurity outlet discharging the resin impurities to the lateral side of the middle-upper part of the separation tank; a magnet conveyor installed on the lower side of the drain pipe, enabling the iron powder to be attached by providing a magnetic force to a predetermined area by an embedded magnet, and enabling the zinc powder, which is a nonmagnetic material and mixed with the iron powder to be washed with washing water provided from a shower installed on the upper part of the magnet conveyor; an iron powder discharging conveyor installed on the end of the magnet conveyor and discharging the iron powder; a zinc powder installed on the lower side of the magnet conveyor and collecting container collecting the zinc powder falling with the washing water; and a dehydrating device separating the washing water from the zinc powder collected in the zinc powder collecting container and enables the treatment of the surface-treatment dust.
