PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents gradation unevenness of an image due to a change of discharge characteristics produced by a difference of the number of simultaneously driven nozzles without changing a voltage and pulse width of a driving signal. ! SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: image width calculation means for calculating sub-scanning direction width of an image 100 formed based on image data; and acquisition means for acquiring the number of times of main scanning, a transportation amount of a recording medium for each main scanning, and the number of simultaneously driven nozzles from the calculated sub-scanning width of the image, the sub-scanning direction width of a nozzle array, and the number of nozzles so that the number of the simultaneously driven nozzles in each main scanning is settled in a predetermined range. !
