PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device that adjusts a luminance difference among a plurality of areas without increasing the number of components. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is provided with an image pickup element 2 which converts an optical signal from an object 103 existing in a 1st area 101 and an optical signal from an object 104 existing in a 2nd area 102 into electric signals, a signal conversion means 3 which converts the electric signals into digital, data including luminance data, and a video signal processing means 11 which generates a video signal to configure a screen area displayed by a monitor section 6. The screen area includes a 1st screen area for displaying an image of the 1st area 101 and a 2nd image area for displaying an image of the 2nd area 102. The video signal processing means 11 recognizes the 1st screen area and the 2nd screen area and adjusts at least the luminance of either of the 1st and 2nd screen areas so that a difference of the recognized luminance between the 1st and 2nd screen areas is decreased.
