A steering apparatus (1) is provided with a first member (37) that rotates integrally with a rotatably operated operating lever (20), and a third member (70) rotatably supported via a thrust bearing (80) (a friction-reducing mechanism) by a second member (38) of which the rotation is restricted. A cam mechanism (40) for pressure-welding a stationary-side plate (26) into a column-side plate (23) is provided with an axial-direction facing surface (37a) provided to the first member (37) and having a cam surface (44) formed thereon, an axial-direction facing surface (70a) provided to the third member (70), a ball (41) (a rolling element) interposed between the two axial-direction facing surfaces (37a, 70a), and a holding device (42) for holding the ball (41), the rotation of the holding device being restricted by the second member (38). |
