PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently detect the remaining amount of a developer in a developing device and supply developer to prevent the leakage of the developer and print failure while reducing the amplitude of the remaining amount, and thereby achieving a reduction in the size and cost of the developing device.SOLUTION: A method of supplying a developer according to the present invention includes: a step 101 of detecting the remaining amount of a developer with a remaining amount detection unit 55; a step 102 of determining whether or not developer can be supplied on the basis of the detected remaining amount of the developer; a step 103 of setting, when supplying developer, the supply amount according to the detected remaining amount of the developer; and a step 104 of setting, when not supplying developer, a period until the subsequent detection of the remaining amount according to the detected remaining amount of the developer. |
