PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rectangular light emitting part which improves the unevenness of luminance, and uniformly or substantially uniformly emits light, and to enhance the incident efficiency of laser light from a laser light source with respect to an incident end face of an optical fiber, in a vehicle headlamp using the optical fiber.SOLUTION: A vehicle headlamp comprises: a laser light source; an optical fiber which includes a core including an incident end face to which laser light is made incident, and an emission end face from which the laser light introduced from the incident end face is emitted, and a clad which surrounds the periphery of the core; a wavelength conversion member which receives the laser light emitted from the emission end face, and converts at least a part of the laser light to light having a wavelength different from that of the laser light; and an optical system which is constituted so as to form a prescribed light distribution pattern by projecting a light source image of the wavelength conversion member. The wavelength member is arranged at the emission end face, and the core is constituted as a core whose cross section of a core portion including the incident end face is circular or substantially circular, and whose cross section of a core portion including the emission end face is rectangular or substantially rectangular. |
