PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which offers a wide view angle, a high zoom ratio, superior optical performance throughout an entire zoom range, and compactness of the entire system. ! SOLUTION: A zoom lens comprises: in order from the object side to the image side, a first lens group which is stationary when zooming and has positive refractive power; a second lens group which moves when zooming and has negative refractive power; a third lens group which moves when zooming and has negative refractive power; a fourth lens group which moves when zooming and has positive refractive power; and a fifth lens group which is stationary when zooming and has positive refractive power. A focal length f1 of the first lens group, a focal length f2 of the second lens group, a focal length f3 of the third lens group, a focal length f4 of the fourth lens group, and an imaging magnification β4w of the fourth lens group at the wide-angle end are appropriately set. !
