PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power requiring for driving a compression apparatus. ! SOLUTION: The compression apparatus comprises: a compressor body for compressing air; a flow control valve for regulating the flow rate of the air sucked into the compressor body; a diaphragm actuator for flow control valve; a high pressure side pipe for communicating between a channel for the compressed air discharged from the compressor body and flowing therethrough and a first air chamber of the actuator for flow control valve; and a low pressure side pipe provided between the flow control valve and the compressor body for communicating between a channel for the air sucked into the compressor body and flowing therethrough and a second air chamber of the actuator for flow control valve, in which the opening of the flow control valve at the start of the compressor body is established such that a negative pressure is produced in the channel for the air sucked into the compressor body and flowing therethrough. !
