The embodiments of the present invention disclose a method for call processing and a gateway, used for gateway processing of a call between a multipoint control unit (MCU) and a terminal device. The method of the embodiments of the present invention comprises: a gateway receives a call initiated by a terminal device; the gateway negotiates with the terminal device, and a first call and a media type for negotiating and determining the first call are established between the gateway and the terminal device; adding negotiation of the first call media type to call established between gateway and MCU, the first call and the established call having different media types; thus the negotiation of the media type of the call is added to the call already established between the gateway and the MCU, effectively reducing the number of calls established by the MCU and saving MCU port resources. |
