PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for optimizing the utilization of resources in a constraint sensor gateway for data transfer.SOLUTION: A constraint sensor gateway is constrained in terms of energy and band width available for data transfer. A network state detection module 108 is configured to detect the network state of a constraint sensor gateway 106, and an adaptation module 110 is configured to determine reliability scores. An application layer protocol 118 of the constraint sensor gateway is configured to enable a reliability level to be adapted on the basis of the reliability scores determined by the adaptation module, and the application of the reliability level by the application layer protocol makes it possible to optimize resources in the constraint sensor gateway.
