<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having both a high clearing point and a low crystallization temperature, thereby, having a wide temperature range of a liquid crystal phase, as well as having excellent solubility with other liquid crystalline compounds, and further having general physical properties necessary for the compound, stability to heat, light and the like, suitable optical anisotropy, and suitable dielectric anisotropy.SOLUTION: The compound is represented by formula (1). In the formula, for example, Ra and Rb are alkyl having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; A, A, Aand Aare 1,4-phenylene; Z, Z, Zand Zare a single bond or alkylene having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and m, n, q and r independently represent 0, 1, or 2, and a sum of m, n, q and r is 1, 2, 3 or 4.</p> |
