PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce discomfort of a user while restricting an increase in circuit scale.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imager including a unit pixel having a first photoelectric conversion part and a second photoelectric conversion part; and a reading circuit that inputs a signal output from the unit pixel. The reading circuit holds one of a first signal corresponding to charges accumulated in the first photoelectric conversion part, a second signal corresponding to charges accumulated in the second photoelectric conversion part, or a third signal corresponding to charges obtained by combining the charges accumulated in the first and second photoelectric conversion parts, and has switching means that switches between first continuous drive in which the first and second signal are read and second continuous drive in which the third signal is read. The switching means switches between the first continuous drive and the second continuous drive at a predetermined timing.
