In a method for producing a nonwoven material, a nonwoven is formed in a former and the resulting nonwoven material web is subsequently further dewatered. In this case, the further dewatering comprises dewatering by means of a belt press which comprises a roller about which at least one inner belt, preferably configured as an endless belt, that rests against the roller, and an outer pressing belt, preferably configured as an endless belt, are wrapped in order to form an extended press nip, wherein at least in the region of the roller the nonwoven material web is arranged between the inner belt and the outer pressing belt and in order to generate a mechanical pressure on the nonwoven material web located between the two belts, the pressing belt is pressed with a belt tension of at least 15 kN/m against the roller, resulting in the nonwoven material web and the inner belt being pressed against the roller, and wherein the nonwoven is formed in the former on a circulating transfer belt and the resulting nonwoven material web is guided by means of this transfer belt at least as far as the belt press and through the extended press nip thereof. An apparatus suitable for carrying out the method is also disclosed. |
