ELECTRONIC BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR

This electronic blood pressure monitor takes a pulse wave signal (SM) representing a pulse wave of a measured region superimposed on a cuff pressure signal (Pc), and acquires a pulse wave amplitude sequence (AL) exhibited by the pulse wave signal (SM). A first envelope (EV1) connecting the amplitudes is then created for the acquired pulse wave amplitude sequence (AL). Local maxima (Lmax) and local minima (Lmin) in the first envelope (EV1) are respectively detected. A local maxima envelope (EVmax) and a local minima envelope (EVmin) linking the amplitudes are respectively created for the amplitude sequences corresponding to the local maxima (Lmax) and the local minima (Lmin). Pairs of pressure values are derived at points at which sections to the high pressure side and to the low pressure side of the maximum peak of local maxima envelope (EVmax) and the local maxima envelope (EVmax) respectively intersect first and second threshold value levels (Ths, Thd), and average values of these pairs of pressure values are computed as systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure (BPsys, BPdia), respectively.
