PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a substrate for a display device, which includes a black matrix having a low reflectance and a high optical density as well as having a small film thickness.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a substrate for a display device is provided, which includes steps of, in the following order: forming a black film 1 by using a material prepared by dispersing at least a black coloring material in a resin on a transparent substrate 10; forming a metal film 2 on the black film 1; forming a pattern of a photosensitive resin 3 on the metal film 2; patterning the metal film 2 by wet etching; forming a black matrix 4 having a plurality of pixel apertures by patterning the black film 1 by dry etching into the same shape as the metal film 2 in a plan view; and forming a transparent resin layer 5 on the black matrix 4. |
