PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new enzyme for blood sugar determination excellent in specificity and affinity to the substrate, thereby suitable to be used in SMBG sensor.SOLUTION: The glucose oxidase of the invention comprises one of the polypeptides of the following (a) to (c): (a) a polypeptide comprising a specified amino acid sequence; (b) a polypeptide whose amino acid sequence is differing from the specified sequence by one or more amino acid substitution, deletion, insertion and/or addition, but having glucose oxidase activity; and (c) a polypeptide whose amino acid sequence has 80% or more identity with the specified amino acid sequence, but having glucose oxidase activity.
