PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas diffusion layer which enables easy manufacture at a low cost.SOLUTION: A gas diffusion layer for a solid polymer type fuel battery is a gas diffusion layer in which a layer containing conductive carbon fiber and resin constitutes three or more layers. In each layer, the conductive carbon fiber is oriented in one direction and in planar direction. The conductive carbon fiber contained in each layer of the three or more layers is oriented in the direction different from the conductive carbon fiber in the layer to which they contact.
